ERgent Med has excellent medical providers that yield quality care. We don’t treat our patients like they are just another number; we treat the whole person. The best thing about using ERgent Med for your primary care needs is that when you are sick or have an acute need, you can walk-in and see any of our providers, even if it is not on a scheduled appointment day. As one of our primary patients, we will already have all of your medical history and information. All of the providers work together at ERgent Med to make sure our patients are taken care of and we communicate with one another on our patients’ needs and concerns.

Medicare Annual Visits

Medicare covers an annual wellness visit for Medicare patients once a year. Included in the Medicare Annual Wellness visit is height, weight, BMI, and blood pressure. At this visit, we will review your personal medical history, family medical history, and any potential risk factors for preventable or modifiable diseases such as Hypertension, Diabetes, Anxiety, and depression. We also review what immunizations/ vaccinations are up to date and which ones are due and assess safety of our patients at theses visits. It should be noted that any blood work or lab tests that may be part of a physical exam are not necessarily included under a Medicare Annual Wellness Visit.

We try to order only those things that are necessary and covered by Medicare for monitoring of routine medical conditions. Medicare Annual Wellness medical exam visits help us to have an updated summary of your health, create a plan of what screening tests are due, and give us a baseline for future examinations and visits. Medicare does pay for many preventive services like mammograms, bone density tests, colon cancer screening, prostate cancer screening, and flu shots.

Hypertension

1 in 3 adults have high blood pressure in America and it is a leading cause of death among Americans. High blood pressure can put excess strain on your heart with time, and it also increases your risk for strokes, heart disease, and heart attacks. It is very important to make sure your blood pressure is at goal and well controlled. Current recommendations are to treat any blood pressure that is consistently higher than 130/80. If one or both of your blood pressure reading numbers are higher than this, then please do not hesitate to come in and let us evaluate and help you get your blood pressure to goal.

We can continue long term management for high blood pressure if necessary, as your Primary Care Service providers.

Cholesterol

High cholesterol can increase your risk for a heart attack or a stroke. We want to help you get your cholesterol to goal to allow you to live a long and healthy life! We work with our patients at ERgent Med to provide intervention with diet, exercise, and conservative methods as well as medication methods for high or risky elevated cholesterol levels.

Diabetes

Diabetes affects over 1.25 million Americans and it is estimated that 40,000 more Americans will be diagnosed with diabetes this year. Uncontrolled Diabetes can lead to kidney failure, dialysis, peripheral neuropathy, amputation of limbs, strokes, heart attacks, and blindness. Here at ERgent Med, we take diabetes management very seriously. If your diabetes is mild- moderate, we will work with you to manage this. If your Diabetes is severe, we will arrange for a referral to a diabetes specialist to help you get your diabetes under control immediately.

Thyroid Disorders or Screening

It is estimated that around 20 million Americans have thyroid disorders and up to 60% don’t even know it yet! Thyroid disorders can cause fatigue, weakness, anxiety, depression, digestive issues, hair loss, skin problems, weight issues, and much more. If you have a thyroid disorder or suspect one, ERgent Med can help with appropriate lab tests, diagnostic tests, and monitoring for medications if necessary. We can also arrange for thyroid specialist referrals in the event that this is necessary.

Generalized Anxiety

Generalized anxiety disorder affects about 6.1 million adults in America. There are many reasons for poor sleep including sleep apnea, anxiety, restless leg syndrome, breathing disorders, and many others. If you are not sleeping well, it is important to let us help get to the bottom of it. Sleep is a vital part of your health!

Arthritis / Joint Pain

1 in 4 Adults in America have some form of Arthritis. Arthritis can cause joint pain, swelling, back pain, neck pain, and limitations in normal daily activities of living. Arthritis can reduce ability to exercise and disrupt your life’s normal routines. Arthritis is a leading cause of disability and missed work days. If you have joint pain, stiffness, swelling, or limited activity due to joint, neck or back pain, then please let us help! ERgent med can perform X-Rays to help further evaluate in office, arrange for physical therapy when appropriate, prescribe medications to reduce inflammation and pain, obtain further bloodwork and MRIs as necessary, and refer to orthopedic or rheumatologic specialists when appropriate. Pre-Op Physicals

Surgeons frequently require pre-operative physicals and clearance to be granted by your primary care physician prior to an operation. Anesthesia should be approached with caution and it is important to make sure your body is equipped to handle being “put to sleep” for an operation. This is something we take very seriously at ERgent Med because we want all of our patients who are undergoing surgery to do well during the anesthesia. Pre-operative services at ERgent Med include Chest X-Ray, blood work as indicated by your surgeon, Urinalysis, and EKGs, and any additional testing that may be specific to the operation.
